Sunset's Student Council is a lively group of Middle School students who have accepted the challenge in dedicating their time to making our school more unfilled and connected.
Student Council is busy all year. Their monthly meetings are conducted at lunch and supervised by Student Council advisers The meetings sometimes consist of planning monthly activities such as Crazy Hat Day and Hawaiian Day. Other meetings are "work" meetings and posters are made for these special days. You'll see them around campus wearing their brightly colored Student Council shirts helping out staff, moving equipment around, and even playing with young children. This generous group also works very hard to collect and sort canned goods for the "Cheers for Children" food drive at Sunset School. Many of them help deliver these baskets to families in our neighborhood on Christmas Eve.
At our monthly "Principal's Recess" Student Council sells popcorn, pencils and other "goodies" to the students who have earned this special recess. The treasurer counts and records the money earned and reports to adviser.
During the year the Student Council may vote to spend some of the money earned from Principal's Recess to purchase playground equipment or games for Rainy Day Recess.
