Middle School Program

Above: Sunset Middle school students attend a field trip to the California Science Center in Los Angeles.

Sunset's Middle School Program not only has some of the top
test scores in the Ventura Unified School District, but also has the lowest
Middle School teacher-to-student ratio in Ventura and Ojai.

It's that time of year again to choose which middle school
your Bobcat will attend next year.

We will be having a Middle School Information Night on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 5:30pm via Zoom. Click the link to the right to see our Middle School Information flyer for  Zoom information.

Sunset 8th Grader named Student of Month - Wednesday, November 20, 2019

Sunset 8th Grader named Student of Month

Hard work, determination and a positive attitude make David Reed the east Ventura Optimist Student of the Month! David is a Sunset 8th grader and was named Student of the Month by the East Ventura Optimist Club.  He was the club’s first recipient for the 2019-20 school year. The club presents the award to all of the middle schools in the Ventura Unified District.  David received a $50 gift card at Barnes & Noble at an awards luncheon.

Principal Sims shared that “David Reed is a student whose perseverance sets him apart. He has had various hurdles along his journey but has overcome them all with hard work, determination and a positive attitude. David now has straight A’s in all of his academic courses due to his dedication. He is a leader on our     campus and a trusted peer mentor.” Teacher Lindsay Guzik stated, “In my classroom, we often talk about the idea that we are who we chose to be. We talk about the idea that qualities such as kindness, perseverance, and optimism are qualities we can choose to strive for.  We are so proud of David for setting goals for himself, and living up to his potential. We are confident and thrilled that he will go on to do great things!”

Congratulations David!

Sunset 8th-grader named Student of Month - Tuesday, November 19, 2019

Sunset 8th-grader named Student of Month

Oscar Reynoso, Sunset 8th grader, was named the Ojai Rotary PEP student of the month. His teacher’s had this to say about him, “Oscar is earnest, kind, and an extremely hard worker. A few years back the cross country team would cheer him on at meets after they had already finished. Now he is consistently in the front of the pack and gets to help the younger runners dig deep and keep a positive attitude. It is this attitude that has propelled Oscar not only in academics and athletics, but as a leader. He leads by example and has a quiet inner confidence that shines through his smile. He has shown great tenacity and grit and it is a privilege to give him the attention that he so greatly deserves.!”

Oscar was honored at a luncheon, and received a scholarship and certificate from the club.  Way to go!!
