The office of Assessment, Accountability, and Program Evaluation (AAPE) is part of the Educational Services Division and serves in a support capacity for school sites, providing schools with pertinent data to assist them in formulating next steps to improving student achievement. In addition, AAPE oversees the state mandated testing & accountability -- California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), including the annual Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) and the California Alternate Assessment (CAA), the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) -- and offers resources for state academic awards and alternative high school diploma programs -- the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma Program (GSSMD), and the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE).
Please note that the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) has been suspended through the 2017-2018 school year, as per SB172.
