Friday November 6th, hundreds of elementary and middle school runners competed in the Ventura County Youth Cross Country League Championships at Arroyo Verde Park. Our Will Rogers Broncos showed up ready to run, and performed well for their last race of their debut season. Will Rogers had over 70 third, fourth, and fifth grade students competing in five different one-mile cross country races this season, all in preparation for the championship race. It was a winner-takes-all event, with the top 25 boys and top 25 boys overall taking home medals, and the first place teams earning a plaque. The team scores were determined by the top 5 runners on each team.
The boys league hosted 10 different Ventura County school teams, with a total of 157 boys running. The Will Rogers boys team finished in 3rd place, led by medal winners Boden Carr - 5th place, Daniel Ortiz - 13th place, and Steven Mulholland - 16th place. Top five runners also included David Reyes - 26th place, and Evan Geske - 29th place.
The girls league also hosted 10 different Ventura Country school teams, with a total of 140 girls running. The Will Rogers girls team finished in 7th place, led by medal winner Este Wade coming in 20th place. Our top five runners also included Eva Goncalves - 28th, Analy Martin - 34th, Vivian Ryan - 41st, and Charlotte Stoops - 43rd.
All students improved their times throughout the season, and should be proud of their hard work and sportsmanship this season. For more detailed results with all runners, please check out the Vendurance website. A huge thank you to Vendurance for timing the races this season, and congratulations to the Bronco Running Team on their fantastic debut season!
