Welcome to the ATLAS Webpage! I am so proud to be the principal of this amazing school! We are a technology and leadership magnet school, and our students embrace the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as they learn, love, and lead every single day! Our students push themselves as readers, mathematicians, scientists, artists, leaders, performers, technology users, and as people! They treat others with kindness and respect and make this a place where everyone is welcome included! Above all, ATLAS is a community; we are so grateful for the involvement of parents, staffulty, and our community!
Our 4 school goals continue to be:
Excellence in Academics in Reading & Math: Please continue to read with your children daily throughout the school year. It is very important that reading remains a priority! In addition, please make sure your students are proficient in their math facts--math fluency is extremely important in preparing students for common core math.
Attendance: When students are not in class, they miss instruction. It is very hard for a student to move forward when they have missed the original lesson from their teacher. Please plan appointments after school and only keep students home if they are contagious. Students will earn attendance awards based on being at school 97% of the time or more.
Technology: Technology will be used in all grades to equip your children with the skills they need to be successful in the 21st century!
Leadership: Using the 7 Habits of Happy Kids will equip our students with the skills necessary to be successful in school and in life! We are so proud of our little leaders who do BIG things! From classroom jobs to school-wide advanced leadership roles, our students live the 7 Habits daily and are building great skills to becoming the next leaders in our community!
We are so grateful for our PTA who has adopted our school goals and pledged to financially support each of these areas throughout the year. Some examples of how they have supported us in the past are as follows:
- purchasing Chromebooks, iPads and Nooks in the classrooms
- funding assemblies
- funding for field trips
- funding for additional classroom expenses (furniture, art supplies, tech subscriptions, etc.)
