How to Become a Mound Family
Mound is a lottery-only school with no neighborhood boundary. Parents interested in having their children attend Mound must fill out the Ventura Unified “School of Choice” application in January and be selected from an unbiased lottery. The window of opportunity for submission is November 5 - December 3, 2021. Applications can be picked up at Mound or at any other school in the district or can be downloaded from the district website beginning November 5 at 9:00am
Only students who reside within the attendance boundary of Ventura Unified School District and are able to provide two proofs of residency at the time of registration may apply. Students who live outside the boundaries of the Ventura Unified School District are not eligible to participate in school of choice for Mound..
Applications should be completed online or returned to the VUSD School District Office at 255 W. Stanley Avenue, Ventura prior to December 5th at 4:00 p.m. Applications must be complete and contain all required components to be considered for the lottery. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Current Mound families do not need to reapply for current Mound students. However, current Mound families with incoming siblings must apply for the new student.
