Welcome to Mound Elementary!
Mound Elementary School is a very special place for children, teachers, staff, and parents. Every student receives a strong foundation in science which will be a necessary tool for global citizens in the 21st century. Our program integrates science into ongoing daily routines and all subject areas. We have designed the program to develop critical thinking skills and problem-solving strategies in our students. In addition, students participate in cooperative work and play, help others through service learning projects, and learn to respect other people's perspectives. After six years, students will leave Mound understanding their responsibilities for themselves, others, and the world.
Schools of Choice (SOC)
Schools of Choice (SOC) is the process Ventura Unified School
District (VUSD) uses to give parents who reside within the VUSD boundary a
choice to select a school within VUSD that they feel will most benefit their
child. Schools and programs are identified based on space availability
for additional students. SOC online applications are selected for
approval via a random and unbiased lottery. Online applications are not
selected on a first come-first served basis. Grades K-5 may request two
school choices. Upon acceptance of placement at one SOC school, the
alternate selection is forfeited. The online application will only be available
during the SOC window: November 5, 2021 through December 3, 2021 (4
pm deadline) for the 2022-2023 school year.
