"High expectations equal amazing results"
Each school year at Montalvo two full Two-Way Immersion Kindergarten classes are built. Priority for participation in this program is given as follows:
1) Entering Kindergarteners residing within the Montalvo attendance area.
2) Entering Kindergarteners residing within the Ventura Unified School District attendance area.
3) Entering Kindergarteners residing outside the VUSD attendance area.
All parents are required to attend both: 1) a Two Way Immersion informational Meeting for new parents, and 2) a Two Way Immersion Classroom Visitation. These are required to acquaintance parents with Two Way Immersion instruction procedures and requirements and to help parents state their program preference and confirm their choice. New parents will have the opportunity to have all their questions answered and will also have the opportunity to complete the Student Information form for Montalvo’s Two-Way Immersion Program.
In addition to fulfilling the requirements for the Two Way Immersion Program, all new students must follow regular Kindergarten registration procedures at Montalvo’s main office. Students residing outside the Montalvo attendance area will enroll through the "school of choice" program. (SOC forms are available at the VUSD office or at your neighborhood school office during the month of January)
VUSD students residing outside Montalvo’s area must also complete the intradistrict transfer request for Montalvo Elementary School. Talk to the principal at your neighborhood school.
Students who are new to Montalvo, have not previously been in enrolled in a TWI program, and are considered non Spanish speakers based on IPT Spanish and administration and teacher input, will only be able to enter the program at K.
