Welcome to the Serra Health Office! It is our goal to promote wellness, student achievement, and regular attendance. This is best accomplished through disease prevention and control; emergency care of illness and injury; implementation of health screenings; management of health conditions; and access to health care and resources.
We are fortunate to have two very valuable staff members who oversee our Health Office. Our School Nurse, Jennifer Partmann is on site one day a week. Michelle Glenn, our Health Technician is in the Health Office from 7:30 - 4:00 everyday.
- Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast each morning, makes healthy food choices, gets plenty of rest, and exercises regularly.
- Please let our Health Office know, immediately, if your child or anyone who lives in your household, has been in close contact (less than 6 feet, 15 minutes or longer) with an individual who has tested positive for Covid-19. Our Health Technician will need to review with you our Covid-19 protocols.
- Keep your child home from school (and be sure to call the school to report their absence) if your child is experiencing any of the following symptoms:
- Fever (any temperature at or above 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit)
- Congestion/runny nose
- Headache
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Difficutly breathing
- Fatigue/muscle or body aches
- Loss of taste or smell
- Gatointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting or diarrhea)
VUSD and Public Health protocols, in order to return to school after a student is symptomatic, are as follows:
- Students must be fever, vomit, and diarrhea free for 24 hours without the use of medication, and symptoms have improved and ONE of the following:
-
Confirm alternate diagnosis with a doctor's note OR
-
A negative PCR Covid-19 test. Student should isolate until negative test result is received, OR
-
A positive Covid-19 test AND at least 10 days have passed since symptom onset. NOTE: a negative test during isolation will not shorten 10 day isolation period OR
-
None of the above and parent chooses to keep child home at least 10 days.
INFORMATION ABOUT MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL:
- Students are NOT allowed to carry prescription or over-the-counter medication with them under any circumstances.
- In order for any type of medication to be administered at school, whether prescription or over-the-counter, the proper "AUTHORIZATION FOR ANY MEDICATION TAKEN DURING SCHOOL HOURS" form must be completed and signed by the physician. All medication must be in a properly labeled pharmacy container.
REMEMBER:
- Always keep the school office up to date with current emergency contact phone numbers. In the event your child becomes ill or injured during school hours, we need to be able to reach you.
Together, we can make Serra a healthy and safe place to learn for all students.
