A Message from the Principal

Dear Anacapa Middle School Community,

On behalf of our entire staff, we would like to welcome you to our fantastic school community. Let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Dr. Vega-ManrĂquez. I am the proud Principal of Anacapa Middle School. At AMS, our goal is to build connections with students, families, and staff to promote a culture of excellence and develop sociocultural competence among our students.

Middle school is an exciting time in your student’s life where they are meeting new friends, growing socio-emotionally, and developing their academic foundation. These transitional years can present various challenges, yet many great rewards. We look forward to developing a strong partnership with you to provide our students with a rich transition that will challenge them academically and help them develop a personal connection to the school and community.  I encourage you to be involved by participating in one of our parent groups: The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), the School Site Council (SSC), or the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).

The Anacapa staff is committed to a set of expectations to support our students. Our school community will use CHAMPs, a classroom management system, to develop an instructional structure in which students are responsible, motivated, and highly engaged in their academic experience. I am confident that we will collaborate to model these expectations to help us continue to move Anacapa Middle School and our students through a rich middle school experience and towards a future that values responsible members of our culturally diverse society.  To make this possible, we must stay connected. We strive to maintain open communication lines via weekly updates via ParentSquare, teacher and school websites, e-mail, calls, school marquis, and our school agenda.

I vow to give my all to our students’ experience, and I will request the same efforts from our staff and school community. We look forward to an exciting and successful school year. Go Islanders!

Sincerely,

Principal Dr. Vega-ManrĂquez
