PLEDGE FOR SUCCESS

I will listen to what others have to say.

When I wait my turn to speak, I can hear what everyone has to say.

I will treat others the way I want to be treated.

Pushing, fighting, bullying, name-calling, and treating others badly hurts them and me.

I will respect the diversity of all people.

Whether we are the same or different on the outside, it’s the person we are on the inside that counts.

I will remember that I have people that care about me in my family, school, and community.

Families, like schools and communities, can be many sizes and made up of all kinds of people.

I will try my best.

Even when I make mistakes, I learn from them.  The most important thing is to keep trying.

Positive consequences:

  • An educational environment conducive to learning

  • WOW Tickets

  • Praise

  • Positive notes or phone calls home

  • School privileges

  • Awards

  • Special recesses or field trips

Negative consequences:

  • A Principal’s Referral may also be issued.    The same procedure as with the Behavior Warnings will be followed.

SCHOOL CLIMATE and DRESS

Lincoln students, staff and parents work together to promote a campus climate that values both the learner and his/her education.  Every student is expected to:

  1. Dress appropriately in order to maintain the educational environment.

  2. Refrain from wearing clothing that brings undue attention to the wearer or presents an image other than that of a student.  All clothing must fit properly and be neither revealing nor overly baggy (croptop shirts or spaghetti straps are not appropriate).   Students who dress inappropriately will be sent home or asked to change into the clothing we have on hand in the Health Office.

  3. Clothing should be clean, in good repair, and be without provocation, rude statements, or slogans/ads for tobacco, alcohol and drugs.

  4. Hats or head coverings are to be worn only outside as sun protection or for warmth.

  5. Shoes should be worn that enable the student to participate in physical education and active play (no back-less shoes or platform shoes that cause injuries while running).  Tennis shoes are the best bet.

NUTRITION

The Lincoln Elementary School Plan includes goals for a safe and healthy educational experience for all students, participation in the Healthy Schools Project that is coordinated by the Food and Nutrition Department of VUSD.

  • We have a daily nutrition break at 9:30 for TK/Kindergarten students, 9:40 for 1st/2nd/3rd grade students, and 10:10 for 4th/5th grade students.  Students may bring a healthy snack from home or purchase a snack from the cafeteria.

  • Please do not send candy, soda, bags of chips, or other “junk” food for snack.  Save those foods to eat in moderation at home, if at all.
